Tesco Natural Cottage Cheese

Meh, bit strong

Tesco at Uni isn't that near me, nor is Tesco at home, luckily there is a tesco 5 minutes away from my Granny's in Scotland. Having already tried the Tesco Fat Free cottage cheese and having not being hugely enamoured with it, I was hoping this one would give me what what I was after. The first thing I noticed is that this is only available in 600g tubs. A standard Tub of cottage cheese is 300g which is a nice size (and can be eaten in one sitting). 600g is too much to eat in one sitting; but also, if it isn't a nice cottage cheese I now have the chore of working though twice as much as usual. And, whilst cottage cheese does last a while in the fridge, if it's just one person eating a normal serving (30g), it would take 20 days to eat the whole tub. Storage wise it reccomends keeping for 3 days once open, so 200g a day. TLDR, would like the option of a smaller tub. The setup for this one was different as I actually had to measure out the cheese, rather than just eating the whole tub. It had a very rich smell, almost too rich. This was a very liquidy one, with large curds- something I'm a fan of. (curds was the word I struggled to remember in the video). The smell was indicative of the overall taste to come as it was fine for a few mouthfulls, but became overpowering with the strong, rich taste. It wasn't a bad taste, but it did feel like iit would be better paired with something like a wrap or soup, just to disperse the flavour a little. Overall it tasted pretty much like Asda's natural cottage cheese.

Let us now have a gander at the Nutrition here. It is the highest calorie so far, with 105Kcal per 100g, though this is only marginally higher than some of the others. Protein wise it is the lowest so far with only 9.5g per 100g, where others are as high as 12.4g per 100g. It has 5.6g of fat per 100g- one of the highest (not surprising given it is also the most calorifically dense). Nutritionally it is good, though not the best oa ll cottage cheeses. This cottage cheese was fairly average. I didn't feel like I needed to drop everything and marry it like with Yester Farm, but I also didn't feel like my throat was burning like with Rowan Glen. I gave Tesco's Fat Free cottage cheese a 5/10 and as this was slightly better (without no aftertaste) I do feel obligated to give it a higher score. so I've settled for a 5.5.
