Near perfection!
This is my third and final review of the Waitrose essential range. (Until I look at pineapple cottage cheeses later on). So far I have been very impressed. Both of the oreviious cottage cheese I have tried from Waitrose have been very worth the £1.40 it cost per tub. Going into this I was very excited as I had given their low fat cottage cheese a 9/10 and generally speaking the higher the the nicer the taste. Though I didn't want it to be too rich as the low at had felt just right. I could not have asked for better. So rich, thick, lumpy and lovely. (*insert obligatory joke here*). When you're used to low fat cottage cheese the rich taste can be almost overwhelming to start with but it is an easy and pleasurable adjustment to make. I have no fault with this cottage cheese. The only reason I'm not giving it a 10/10 is because I'm quite early on in this reviewing journey and I don't want to hyperinflate the value at an early stage. And I suppose one must really take into account all facets of the cottage cheese, and this could have been improved for me had they had a secure plastic lid on the tub.
Nutrition wise this is good. It has 102kcal per 100g and I'd say it's really worth it for the taste. The whole tub will set you back 16.2g of fat but mass consumption of cottage cheese is not essential. Per serving it's only 3.2g. Some full fat cottage cheese taste a bit average and I'd say you might was all go for a low fat one, especially a nice one like waitrose essential (if you don't mind shelling out 1.40), but this is so nice tasting that it justifies all the calories and more. Protein wise it is on the lower end for cottage cheeses, though only by a gram or two per 100g and in the grand scheme of things it is still high, with 10.3g per 100g. I would highly reccomend this cottage cheese and would love to have it again. 9/10
